My program is designed to help clients lose weight, increase energy and sleep better!
I offer a 12 week program with one coaching session per week. I also take questions between sessions. The program covers:
-Nutrition and diet-best choices of what to eat and why; guidance on making good food choices; recipe and delivery meal recommendations; weekly diet review with feedback to fine-tune diet and address any issues or concerns
-Exercise: Evaluation of current fitness level; a plan to incorporate fitness into your busy life
-Sleep: review of sleep quality with recommendations to improve sleep
-Stress: techniques to manage the stresses of modern life
The program is customized to reflect individual client’s health concerns such as medical conditions and hormonal issues such as pre-diabetes/diabetes, bloodwork concerns such as high cholesterol, and digestion/gut issues such as IBS/colitis.
Small group coaching is available for those who want to join the program with friends.
Single session coaching is offered to address a specific concern and identify next steps.
After the 12 week program, if the client would like ongoing support further sessions are customized to build on the foundation of the 12 week program based on ongoing needs and goals.
A low carbohydrate Paleo/Primal diet is based on the foods our ancestors ate. Early humans and those in more traditional cultures didn't eat the highly processed food diets high in carbohydrates that we do today. Studies show that our ancestors' health was better than ours in many ways. Chronic diseases like heart disease and diabetes were nearly nonexistent in these cultures. By removing processed foods from our diets in favor of whole foods such as meat, fish, eggs, vegetables, nuts, and lower sugar fruits, we can prevent or reduce symptoms of many of the illnesses that come with modern diets and lifestyles. A Keto Diet is a very low carbohydrate, higher fat option while a Paleo/Primal diet allows more carbohydrates from fruits and vegetables. As clients' health goals and carbohydrate tolerance varies, I customize a diet and lifestyle plan for each client according to their specific tolerances and goals.
Conventional wisdom since the 1970s was that a high carbohydrate, low fat diet was the best way to lose weight. We’ve all seen the results-most adults and now many children are overweight or obese. We’ve been told it is our fault for eating too much and exercising too little. I’m here to change that narrative-being overweight is NOT your fault, it is the result of our diet recommendations being wrong. Specifically, a high carbohydrate diet keeps our insulin high and leads to fat storage. A low carbohydrate diet reduces insulin responses after eating, allowing our bodies to release stored fat for fuel. That means weight loss!
My coaching program teaches clients what to eat (and why) for weight loss and increased energy. Depending on the client’s needs and goals I also develop exercise, sleep, and stress reduction plans to optimize overall health and wellness. I also address individual health, aging, and hormonal issues in each client’s plan.
Like many people I spent many years yo-yo dieting only to regain the lost weight. As a scientist, I spent a lot of time reading about diet and wellness to find a plan that would work for the long term. in 2012 I found the Paleo/Primal lifestyle and lost 40 pounds while improving my bloodwork results and minimizing my chronic digestive issues. I became passionate about sharing what I learned with others, and became a certified Health Coach through the Primal Health Institute to guide others in the same situation to lose weight and improve their general wellness. I specialize in helping peri-menopausal and menopausal women lose weight, increase energy and sleep better. I also coach male and female clients in a variety of life stages.

I started a coaching program with Heather as my bloodwork results weren't great-had high cholesterol and triglycerides and borderline fasting glucose. my doctor wanted me to take a statin drug but I wanted to try to improve my numbers through diet first. After three months on a low carbohydrate diet, my cholesterol dropped from 229 to 93 and triglyceride level dropped from 272 to 107. Fasting glucose was better too-I was close to pre-diabetes levels. I'm gradually losing pounds and my waist has gotten smaller. It's amazing how much easier it has gotten once I learned what foods to eat and what to avoid. I feel better already even though I have more weight to lose.
